SFL Friday Follies!

Hey, wasn't that a wonderful investiture for new County Court Judge Spencer Multack?

With the kids, and the best friend, and Judge Holmes -- all good stuff.

Congratulations!

In non-good stuff news, self-described "good deeds" creator (hey, he actually said that!) Stuart Rosenfeldt will have to put his public works projects on hold:
Stuart Rosenfeldt, Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein's former partner and the second "R" in RRA, has been informed by the federal government that he will be indicted on criminal charges, says his attorney.

Rosenfeldt played a public role in representing the crumbling law firm in the aftermath of the implosion of Rothstein's billion-dollar Ponzi scheme. He is one of many former Rothstein law partners and business associates expected to be arrested by the feds prior to December 12, when Rothstein is scheduled to begin a grueling string of civil depositions that are expected to take 10 days to finish.

Several sources say that Russell Adler, the third named partner in the defunct Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler firm, is among those expected to be charged. Adler's attorney, Fred Haddad, didn't dispel that idea, saying he expects more indictments soon and that the the filing of criminal charges Thursday against two Rothstein associates -- Marybeth Feiss and William Boockvor -- indicated "which way the wind was blowing."

Rosenfeldt's attorney, Bruce Lehr, said federal officials informed him a few months ago that his client was going to be charged criminally. Lehr said he has been given no time frame and has no information on what exactly Rosenfeldt will be charged with.
I don't know -- three guesses, anyone?

Finally, congrats to Big Mike Casey, who along with Richard Tuschman had a judgment vacated by Judge Lenard.

Not bad, kids.

And how was your week?

"Did You Get a Cease and Desist Letter"? Click.

Much like a certain peg-legged captain, The Intrepid One™ has been doggedly hunting an angry white sperm whale reporting on the recent travails of prominent attorney Jeremy Alters.

In today's DBR Julie reports on what happens when you ask the wrong question:
Plaskett of Duane Morris said he sent a cease-and-desist letter to Alters ordering him to remove Taylor's photos and any mention of him from No Ceilings' website several weeks ago. The website was out of commission today with a notice saying, "Updated site coming soon!"

Alters denied ever claiming Taylor was a client.

"He's represented by CAA," Alters said today. "He's a friend of mine."

Alters hung up when asked whether he received a cease-and-desist letter from Plaskett.
Hung up?  On Julie?

Now that's just wrong.

Use your sweet tongue, your gifts of subtle persuasion, the art of misdirection, ply her with roses -- anything -- but to simply pull the rip cord on the entire conversation?

Do you really want to make Julie mad?

Change Partners.

Once again the Intrepid One™ breaks news:
Casey, who starts Dec. 31, is bringing along partners Richard Tuschman, Kevin Vance and Hector Chiconi as well as associates Teresa Maestrelli and Mark Beutler, a paralegal and an undetermined number of office staff. All the lawyers practice in labor and employment except Chiconi, who has an immigration practice. The only remaining partner at EGB, Robyn Symons, is in discussions with Duane Morris.

Also joining Duane Morris from EGB will be Eddie Feenane, a longtime recruiting and administrative head who cut his teeth at Steel Hector & Davis. Feenane will coordinate recruiting, marketing and business development efforts for Duane Morris’ Miami and Boca Raton offices.

According to a source close to the firm who did not want to be identified, the group is departing EGB partially due to its lack of a full-service platform and partially due to financial reasons.

"No one wants to refer cases to other firms," the source said. "Additionally, they haven’t kept competitive on salary and bonuses."
Congrats to a fine group of lawyers and we wish them the very best.

Totally unrelated, but I really enjoyed Mike Myers in Austin Powers.  I sure hope he keeps that franchise going.

Ben Solomon Hearts Charlie Crist!

I'm not a huge fan of pda, but in this case we can make an exception:

"It's exactly what we need," said Ben Solomon, a Miami real estate lawyer who isn't registered with either party. "The question is, 'Do you think independently?' The answer should always be 'Yes.'"

Solomon said he was already planning to vote for Crist, but after the governor decided to go independent, he will actively work for him, helping him raise money and recruiting support. Crist has said he plans to change his voter registration to no party affiliation.

I'm with ya, Ben -- ABR (Anyone But Rubio).

Like almost everyone in town(?), Ben used to be with Duane Morris, but now has a nice boutique practice in North Bay Village.
