Who could allegedly be responsible for this?

Of course:

"We lost our home, our business; we lost everything," she said.

Dasilva and her husband bought a house in Coral Springs, Fla. In 2003; after eight years there, they decided to refinance to reduce their mortgage rate from 10.5 percent. They went to Scott Alan Salomon, an acquaintance.

"He is the godfather to my youngest granddaughter," said Dasilva.

Salomon, a lawyer and the owner of the Platinum Title Company, was able to secure a new mortgage for $166 thousand, but 90 days later Dasilva received a message from her old mortgage company that she was behind.

"So I called them and said, 'I don't have a mortgage with you anymore, we refinanced'. She said, 'we don't know anything about that'. I said 'maybe you should call my lawyer'," said Dasliva.

"She said, 'no, maybe you should call your lawyer.'"

The Dasilvas eventually lost their home to foreclosure. "He did not pay off our first mortgage," she added.

"(It was the) biggest mistake in my life...I felt sick."

SFL Friday -- Happy Halloween, Plebes!

Well you know what they say -- "Halloween is for windsurfing" -- so I am going to cut out of here early and catch some glistening, chocolate-covered waves all afternoon.

Before I go, I see my crazy-eyed zoftig birther mama caught some more federal judicial flak today, this time coming from C.D. CA Judge David O. Carter, who wrote:

"Plaintiffs have attacked the judiciary, including every prior court that has dismissed their claim, as unpatriotic and even treasonous for refusing to grant their requests and for adhering to the terms of the Constitution which set forth its jurisdiction. Respecting the constitutional role and jurisdiction of this Court is not unpatriotic."

No, it just means you too had a little visit from an olive-skinned Eric Holder lookalike at the courthouse coffeeshop.

(BTW, I had no idea Alan Keyes was a plaintiff in the above suit -- talk about the loony leading the crazy.)

Then we have Hunton & Williams, which filed an odd suit on behalf of the US Chamber of Commerce against some pranksters who spoofed their position on climate change the other day.

In local news, Coral Springs attorney Scott Salomon was finally disbarred.

He certainly gave us plenty of good material over the years (see here and here) so we wish him (not to mention his former clients) farewell and godspeed.

I don't know about you, but like any good deputy assistant AG, I too have a goody bag of things "just in case." But dude -- in a cemetery?

Guess it is that time of the year.

And like many of you, I thought of some costume ideas so I put a few up there for your consideration -- guess which one I'm going as? (NO HINTS!)

BREAKING - Scott Salomon Now Most "Not Evil Person" In Jail

We always enjoy writing about Scott Salomon, but for those of you looking to refer him business a dedicated reader points out that he now has a new address:

The NBC 6 Consumer Investigative Unit investigated an attorney accused of taking more than $1 million from clients without providing services, and that lawyer was in jail Tuesday night.Scott Salomon was arrested and charged with organized fraud, a serious felony, NBC 6's Jeff Burnside reported.

Law enforcement sources told NBC 6 that in his initial arraignment on Wednesday morning Salomon is not likely to bond and that he is likely to remain in jail until his trial.

Scott Salomon Not "Evil" Or "Wicked," According to Scott Salomon

They say all news is good news, so by that standard Scott Salomon, Coral Springs attorney and former lawyer for Backstreeter Nick Carter, must be thrilled:

The state Supreme Court issued an emergency suspension. The Florida bar declared that Salomon "has caused and continues to cause great public harm."

"Have you told all your clients that you've been suspended as required by the state supreme court?" Burnside asked Salomon."We've done what was needed to be done, and other than that I have no comment," Salomon said.

"But the state supreme court said that you had to immediately notify all your clients. Have you done that yet Mr. Salomon?" Burnside asked."I have no comment," he said.

Salomon did comment in court papers, saying his suspension is "unconscionable," based on "trivial matters," "frivolous" and a vendetta by the bar. Clients need him, he said.

Clients who talked to NBC 6 said they remained mystified by one thing:"Mr. Salomon, your clients just want to know one thing. Why? Why have you treated them like this?" Burnside asked."I have no comment, but I've spoken to many of my clients and we'll just leave it at that," Salomon said.

"But they say that you've taken their money with almost no work, and in many cases, left some of their lives in ruin," Burnside said."I believe I've answered your questions," Salomon said.

In a later e-mail, Salomon hurled venomous insults at his clients but expressed mild remorse and said he's not "evil" and "wicked," Burnside reported.
